Copywriters excel in writing content for websites, articles, books, sales letters, emails, and more. You can consider them to be versatile, but they tend to focus on content marketing more than anything.
Normally, you’ll find copywriters in radio, advertising, TV, and the written media. Needless to say, they’re an important asset when it comes to sales generation. A dull and uninteresting description or newsletter is likely to push people away rather than draw them in.

The Freelance Industry vs. In-House
With such a saturated pool of copywriters out there, it’s difficult to differentiate one from another in this day and age. Most of the time, you’ll find freelance commercial writers and freelance copywriters making ends meet through a series of contracts and guest posts. Essentially, they’re entrepreneurs that write any type of copy to make money – which is actually a good way to make a living.
On the other hand, there are copywriters that work with companies and larger corporations.
These are known as Staff Copywriters.
Staff copywriters work with other writers and specialists to effectively transfer concise information from a source to another individual with clarity and precision. Usually, they’ll work with an editor and/or an assistant editor. However, as you already know, the primary difference between being a freelancer and an in-house copywriter is where you’re doing your work.
